Jonathan Stark

When German composer and conductor Jonathan Stark made his stage debut in 2014 at Amsterdam's Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ with the Atlas Ensemble, he was already the only European selected to take part in the New Works By Emerging Composers Workshop run by S.E.M. Ensemble in New York City.

At the invitation of the Goethe Institute, he was involved in a collaboration with the Omnibus Ensemble in Tashkent, and the premiere of his song-cycle Passageway (texts by Franziska Haß) took place in New York City and Sydney during the 2016/17 season, performed by Stephanie Weiss (mezzo-soprano) and Christina Wright-Ivanova (piano).

Jonathan Stark has been significantly influenced by Christian Wenzel, Hans Zender and Isabel Mundry. He is currently completing musical training in Vienna under Andreas Stoehr (conducting) and Gesine Schröder (theory of music).

His compositions are published by the Donemus publishing house, from The Hague.
